Our approach

Discovery session

We started with an exploration of The Hague City Council's question: how to give this old school a new, valuable function?

Plan of action

We drew up a thorough plan to arrive at a supported concept through research and participation.

Conducting interviews

We went into the neighborhood and talked to local residents, business owners and stakeholders to pick up the needs and opportunities in Moerwijk.

Feedback findings

We analyzed all the insights from the interviews and desk research and fed back to the core team.

Brainstorming session

In a creative session, we translated the insights into concrete ideas and directions for filling the property.

Draft elaboration

We developed the winning idea into the concept ‘Meeek’: a place for making, working, learning and connecting.

Presentation

Municipality and stakeholders We presented the concept and business case to the municipality and stakeholders, which led to the green light for the plans.

In an intensive period of 3 months, we worked closely with the Motus team. Together we interviewed local residents, entrepreneurs from inside and outside Moerwijk and other important stakeholders such as the neighborhood police officer, community builder and the current users of the building. We did desk research, organized a brainstorming session to come up with surprising insights and formed different scenarios into the concept with the working name ‘Meeek’. The final concept was also tested with various stakeholders. With some minor refinements, there is now a rock-solid plan to revitalize the school!

Meeek: where making and working go hand in hand

The concept focuses on putting crafts at the center. In this proposal, all initiatives that will soon occupy the building fit within the four concept pillars:

  • Making
  • Works
  • Learning
  • Connect

These four pillars will turn the old school back into a vibrant place where entrepreneurs like to locate, now and in the future.

A conclusive business case and program of requirements

The experts at Motus immediately translated the concept into a conclusive business case and detailed program of requirements. Very briefly, this describes how the building should be renovated and what revenues the municipality can expect in the coming years.

Connection to the objectives of the Hague municipality

The concept, commissioned by the Municipality of The Hague, is in line with the ambition to make space available for small-scale manufacturing industry. In addition, this concept contributes to reconnecting Moerwijk to The Hague.

It was great to have Floor on the team temporarily. She works professionally and knows how to strike the right chord with people in conversations that bring underlying needs to the surface. Finally, she was able to turn the developed concept into a very strong report.

FNV ‘Reset the system’

VideographyVideography

The tax system needs to be fairer, but real. And that is exactly what the FNV is working for. With 'Reset the system' they are initiating a movement to create awareness in all layers of our society. This was also the case during the first 'Reset the system' event of which we made a short registration.

Sustainability is a hot topic but ASSA ABLOY has genuinely been working on it for years. Time to tell their story really well for once. We built a professional studio set and interviewed Ralf de Ruijter, Business Unit Manager at ASSA ABLOY Entrance Systems in Ede.
